Romantic Living

By Natalie Stephans

Romance is a state of mind for those of us that are romantics at heart we find romance in the senses and fill our lives with beauty. The life of romance it is attainable for each one of us because it is a life of inspiration and extraordinary living. A romantic life is translated differently in every person’s life; do you dream of a charming cottage surrounded by enchanting flower gardens and a white picket fence? How about a warm cozy cabin up in the mountains with a roaring fire in the fireplace, drinking hot cocoa on a long cold winter night? Every person has their own unique interpretation of romance and living a beautiful romantic lifestyle.

How to add a little romance to your life? First consider those things that bring loveliness to your character. What speaks to your heart? Let your imagination run wild and allow yourself to dream of the things that evoke romance in you. It may be poetry and wonderful old books maybe it is soft music that brings peacefulness to your home. It does not have to be prepackaged or expensive. A lovely antique chair draped with a remnant of lace. How about a pretty floral painting with muted colors done by a student of an art school? The lovely old cast off that is in your friend’s garage? Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.

Part of the fun of creating a romantic life is to take your time and wait for just the right pieces and sensations to cross your path. Often it is in what we create or invent, an old plant stand now doubles as a towel and toiletry holder in the bathroom. Collections definitely speak to the heart because they are each so deeply personal. A collection of delicate silver spoons or large ceramic art nouveau vases says something different about its collector; each person has the tendency to collect those things that evoke sentimental emotions in us.

You create the atmosphere of romance so look for inspiration in everything, a walk in an old historical district of your city, your garden; even a color can say something special to you so please take your time and have an open mind. And take risks just because no one else has ever tried something new does not mean you should not try, pick only those objects that say now this is romance!

Ultimately we write our own romantic scripts in life. So go out there and live for your heart you will never be disappointed.
