The Power of Encouragement

By Natalie Stephans

Words have power. We have all heard that many times. But there is so much truth to that statement. We have the power through our words to encourage and build others up or discourage and tear others down.

Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Proverbs 12-18
The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools. Proverbs 15:7

Do you realize the power you posses in every word you speak each day of your life? Dear precious friend...let this sink into your spirit. Each one of us has the ability to make a difference in someone's life through our words. We have a life full of history, we each have a story to share. Even in our hurts and sorrow we can learn to show compassion and love from enduring trials. Your story matters, your wisdom and triumph from each trial can encourage someone in the desert of their trial, like an oasis, you can be that much needed refreshment! Share your experiences, share your hurt and share how you endured and overcame!

I know that I want to be around those people that bring me hope and joy. I surround myself with friends that bring out the positive in me. I love the friend that is honest with me when I need correction, they always do it in the most gentle way, yet so loving in their devotion to me because they see so much more in me then I see in myself. They push me to go beyond, they truly inspire me to try what I may have not have had the courage to try before. We are all drawn to positive people, we all need to be inspired...these people are such a joy to know!

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:25

Your words have power. They can be just the wisdom needed for the moment. Your words can build someone up, just try and see what happens. I have met so many people that have told me some very nice things about someone else and I ask them" have you told that person"? More often then not they say no! But let me encourage you dear friend to do just that, tell someone how you feel. You never know...it could be the highlight of someone's day! In this world with all its sorrows we need encouragement.

Today I want you to know that you do matter...you are so precious in Gods eyes, your beautiful because you were made by a loving Father, God does not make anything less then a masterpiece, you are His work of love. You can overcome your past hurts with His help. Love with His love and that love will come right back to you. Encourage and be encouraged. It does something beautiful to your spirit to love and forgive others. Let me encourage you to go out there today and build others up with your words. It will make all the difference in the world!

Love and God bless you, Natalie Stephens
