The Beauty of Quietness

By Natalie Stephans

Today's world is so full of distraction. We are pulled so many different ways and we can go all day! But if I told you a huge secret, a secret that could change your entire life would you listen to me? I hope you would, I hope my own walk with Christ and what He has revealed to me might help you sweet friend. It is something not very popular in the States right now, contemplating on life, being still and meditating on the word of God, it seems to be long forgotten what it was like as a child, to run in the grass look up at the sky and just be a child of God truly allowing yourself to be in solitude and quietness.

Instead it should be that of your inner self , the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in Gods sight. 1 Peter 3:4

As women and moms we are always on the go and always so busy with our children.. but God wants us to pull away, get very still and sit before Him in our quiet time of devotion and in times of just being still and meditating on his word and on whom He is. What if I promised you that if you would let yourself rest in Him God would tell you things you were too busy to listen to before? What if I told you that He would even reveal things in your life that needed to be healed or dealt with in that sacred time of quiet? That you would grow and come into real knowledge deep knowledge of Him? Christ understood the importance of pulling away and spending time with the Father. It was a crucial part of his life on this earth. Why do we think it is not as important for us?

I know many of my friends are so busy all the time. So busy they don't sit down to enjoy a real home cooked meal with family. So busy that their children are so booked with so many unnecessary activities, always running and going! My heart breaks for them.  Are they enjoying their beautiful families and homes? Are they truly enjoying life.. I wonder? They never seem to be quiet enough to really get to know their families.

We allow so much noise and so much busyness that it takes away from the messages Christ has for us each day each moment. If only we would stop, get quiet and listen to Him! He just showed me the importance of the passage in 1 Kings 19 11-12  and I know that often God reveals himself in the quiet whisper like He did to Elijah...sometimes He has to get our attention to get us to quiet down and pay attention!

Now I know your busy with your children but God is able to give you that sacred time with Him if you will just ask him to do so! You will benefit so much from that time with your loving Father and friend and you will see huge changes in your life. You will be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister & friend! You will shine with the radiance of Christ..

But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29

He longs for you to pull away and stop and think about Him. He longs to tell you things in the quiet of the day..

Love and God bless, Natalie Stephens
