Little Pink Secrets

Reflections of Pink

Pink is the color of little girls, a pretty ballerina, bubble gum and cotton candy. It represents sugar and spice and everything nice. That was then. Today’s pink is of calm sophistication. Not just associated with little girls, pink is romantic and charming, flirty and fun. Pink, the softer side of red, is thought to have a calming effect on our mind, body and spirit. It is believed to be the color choice for dining rooms among decorators for creating a harmonious dining experience, as well as bringing out a rosy sheen to our complexion. Color plays such an important part in our lives. It surrounds us with beauty and serenity and sets the mood like a beautiful spring day.

Think Pink!

You can apply simple techniques to derive the benefits of pink to enhance your intimate home.

  • Emulate the romance of the garden inside your home with fresh cut flowers, for they never fail to lift the spirit.

  • Candles are not just for starry romantic evenings. Create ambience during sunlit hours with rose scented candles. My favorite, fresh cut roses by Yankee Candle.

  • Adorn your home with the sweet fragrance of the garden by adding a few drops of rose scented oils to lamp rings. A nice one to try, Tea Rose Perfume oil by The Body Shop.

  • Replace harsh white light bulbs for soft pink ones.  Chose table lamps with pretty floral shades to cast a romantic glow. I like to pin lace hankies to shades as well, just to soften the light.

Little Pink Secret- The Perfect Pink Paint

Who better then Christie Repasy, the famous rose artist to offer her wisdom on the perfect pink paint. I was very fortunate to speak with Christie in 2002 when her exquisite artwork was featured in Romantic Homes for the very first time. She is an angel, delightfully charming and very sweet! When I asked her about the beautiful color pink that graced her studio walls, she was kind enough to send me the formula. Christie explained,” It’s the perfect pale pink, its not too pink and doesn't have blue undertones that would otherwise clash with like colors. Christie said, it’s the perfect backdrop for her paintings. I have received so many of your beautiful emails asking about the pink paint in my "This Old House" section and now I would like to share this gorgeous color pink with you. Enjoy Ladies!

Valentine's Picnic

In the spirit of valentines day, a cozy picnic by the fire brought welcoming smiles to my little sweethearts faces when returning home from school. Mind you, they don’t always agree with my admiration for too much pink, but they appreciate the sentiment just the same! Picnics indoors are magical!

Happy Valentine's Day!
